Guest Bathroom Before and After

Unlike the other home decorating projects I blog about, this one hasn’t been dragged out across several months! Yay for time off work! This is the upstairs full bathroom. This bathroom isn’t typically used a lot, in fact no one has showered in it since we’ve lived here (to my knowledge), but it was so so ugly before. Are you ready? Here it was from the listing photo:

Yep, this is the only photo I have. What do we have here? Beige walls, beige ceiling, and old lady shower curtain that looks like it could eat you on the toilet. Ok, let’s get on to the after:

Here’s the rundown on the changes:

Paint color is Laura Ashley’s Mountain Pass matched to Behr (Home Depot) interior paint in a flat finish (rebellious, I know, to paint a bathroom with a flat paint finish).

Shower curtain, towel rods, shower curtain tension rod, candle, soap pump, and wire basket thing-y are from HomeGoods. Yes, I like that store.

Towels, bath mats, ceramic bowl (actually an ice cream bowl that was on clearance), and waste basket are from Target.

The art over the loo is old-ish from IKEA and I just had it lying around and am too lazy to pick out real wall art.

I have to admit it was kind of scary to pick out a dark-ish paint color for a small, windowless room, but I think it turned out really well. I adore the shower curtain and it turned out fairly well for just kind of off the cuff design. Eventually we will do a more major overhaul to this bathroom since it will be a kid’s bathroom, eventually. Can I put eventually any more in that sentence? Eventually.

  1. Do you happen to remember the name of the company or the pattern for that GORGEOUS shower curtain? I am stuck with a white tub, yellow tiles in the tub surround and faux marble in white and pale grey in the reminder of the bathroom. I have been searching high and low for a new curtain… this might be it.

    • I don’t remember, I’m so sorry! I wish I knew at least the name of the fabric because I’m sure I could find a use for it in other parts of my house as well. I’ll keep my eye out at HomeGoods if I happen to see it again.

  2. It is beautiful!! We have a very BLAH guest bathroom in our basement that I think might benefit from me seeing what you did with yours. I love the paint color, and that shower curtain is great! Thank you for sharing and for giving me inspiration. 🙂

  3. Stunning..absolutely love the color combination, and I too, would covet that shower curtain if I didn’t have a glass enclosure.

Great job!! All of your guests are sure to be impressed.
